This year, I was surprisingly selected to present at General Assembly.
General Assembly (GA) is the annual meeting of our Unitarian Universalist Association (UUA). Attendees worship, witness, learn, connect, and make policy for the Association through democratic process.
General Assembly is June 19th-23rd in Spokane, WA. The theme this year is “The Power of We”. ”
“In a time of great challenge and heartbreak in our world, what does our faith demand from us? At this year’s General Assembly we will explore the power, possibility, purpose, struggle and joy of finding the path forward together as Unitarian Universalists. Attendees will leave inspired, with the tools needed to carry on the work into their own congregations and communities. “
My presentation is on disability awareness:
Dis-Abilities: A Discussion on Inclusion, Accessibility and IdentityO
People with disabilities often struggle with accessibility and inclusion within religious spaces. How do we have meaningful discussions within our congregations on how to be truly welcoming to people with disabilities? Join Rachel Carter, an advocate and person with multiple disabilities as we discuss this topic, share ideas, and stories.
I need help getting to GA. Although I was selected, there is no funding to cover registration or the trip. Any contribution after church financial obligations is greatly appreciated.
